How to sew Double Gauze Fabric?
Double Gauze is a soft and breathable fabric that is perfect for dresses, children's clothing and much more.
Here are 5 tips to get the best results from your next double gauze project!
1. Use a sharp and fine needle: Opt for a size 70/10 or 80/12 needle to prevent snags and runs in the delicate fabric.
2. Pre-wash and press: Be sure to wash and press your double gauze fabric before starting your project to prevent any shrinkage later on.
3. Secure seams: Backstitch or use a securing stitch at the beginning and end of your seams to prevent unraveling.
4. Adjust your machine's tension: Double gauze can be prone to puckering so be sure to test your machine's tension settings on a scrap piece of fabric to achieve the smoothest stitches.
5. Press, don't iron: When pressing seams or hems, use a low heat setting on your iron, and place a pressing cloth between the fabric and iron to protect it from direct heat.
