Sewing Tips for Viscose Jersey Fabric!
Here are 5 tips to help you get the best results from your next project!
1. Use the right needles: Use a ballpoint or stretch needle as these needles have a rounded tip that slides between the fibres of the fabric without damaging or skipping stitches.
2. Pre-wash and handle with care: Be sure to pre-wash and dry the fabric before sewing to prevent shrinkage after the garment is made.
3. Test stitches on scrap fabric: Test different stitches (like a narrow zigzag or stretch stitch) on a scrap piece of fabric to determine the best stitch for your project. Adjust the tension if needed to prevent puckering or stretching.
4. Press carefully: Use a low heat setting on your iron and press lightly with a pressing cloth to avoid damaging the fabric. Always test a small area first to ensure the heat won’t cause any issues.
5. Choose the correct thread: Polyester or polyester-blend threads work best with viscose jersey fabric because they have some stretch and won't break easily.
